Mahindra’s Auto Sector sells 51636 units

manufacturer Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (M&M Ltd.) announced its auto
sales numbers which stood at 51,636 units during March 2014.
The
passenger vehicles segment (which includes UVs and the Verito) sold 23,433
units in March 2014, as against 25,847 units during March 2013. The company’s
domestic sales stood at 48,490 units during March 2014, as against 49,225 units
during March 2013. The 4-wheelers commercial segment has sold 17,649 units,
while the 3-wheelers segment clocked 6,305 units in March 2014. Exports for the
month stood at 3,146 units which represents a growth of 17pc.
The company ended Financial Year 2013-14, with
a sales figure of 5,07,176 units as against 5,63,373 units in FY 2012-13.

Shah, Chief Executive, Automotive Division, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. noted,
“Post the reduction in the excise duty across all segments, the auto industry
has seen the level of inquiry going up, but has not witnessed any major surge
in sales. We do hope that the sentiments improve and change post the national
elections, leading to an increase in demand as well. At Mahindra, we are happy
with our overall performance for the month of March where the de-growth is
negligible at 0.5pc. Going forward, we continue to be optimistic for the future
and expect to witness a growth momentum during FY 2014-15.”
In
the passenger vehicles segment (UVs and Verito), M&M sold 23,433 units in
March 2014 as compared to 25847 units in the corresponding period last year ( a
negative growth of 9pc). The 2013-14 fiscal figures stood at 229155 units as
against 279270 units (-18pc growth).
In
the 4-wheelers commercial (Passenger & Load) that includes the Maxximo,
Gio, Genio and Bolero Pick up the March 2014 sales figure stood at 17649
(17212), a growth of 3pc. For the fiscal 2013-14, the sales stood at 177587
units (174233 units), a growth of 2pc. In 3-wheelers, the March 2014 figures
stood at 6305 units (4831), a 31pc growth, while for the entire fiscal it stood
at 62614 units (65510), a negative growth of 4pc. The performance of the truck and bus company (MTBL) was also not good. For March 2014, the sales stood at
1103 units (1335), a -17pc growth. The fiscal sales stood at 8161 units (11902),
a -31pc growth.
